SLASHER INTRO - THORN IN THEIR SIDE

It was in the spring of 2016 when I first heard the agenda of the main Romanian leftist party for the upcoming elections. Among many resolutions tailored to shove an already-crippled-beyond-hope country right back up Mother Russia’s alley, one stained my ears in particular - the cutting of military pensions.

With many fundamental aspects of the cancer known as socialism still alive and well in the minds and spirits of most of the locals, capitalism and the injustices it brings along never really stood a chance on the national scene, unfair, unequal pay being just one of its dreadful highlights. One should never bother to explain to a leftist why the Military is never paid well enough, so attempting to do it in these pages would be a complete waste of time and space… Instead, I chose to write this book to let the ones under direct scrutiny - the officers and their families, know their are not the devils they are made out to be, and I chose to do it by way of paralelism, dividing the local forces in two.

I have never fitted in when it comes to my generation. I have never tried to, never tried not to… It wasn’t by design, just the way things happened to be. I can name about five so-called singers and maybe three actors that met fame this century, and if someone were to ask me to name a song or a movie of such individuals, I would probably have a hard time recalling one.

That’s why I wanted to write this book for my kind of people - those that grew up and smoked their formative years on the movies and music of the seventies and eighties… Those born in the sixties and fifties. I wanted to offer something that, I hope, will remind them of the stories and action of what I consider to be a lot better days, now long gone with the wind. They are a huge, unrepresented segment in a day and age when it seems that just about anyone has a place on the silver screen (well, at least just about anyone sticking to a leftist, woke agenda…). I think of SLASHER as an old-fashioned, republican stab to Romania’s crime-filled, socialist political scene and an alternative to the far-left plague swallowing mainstream media and Hollywood today.

One night out is enough for the trained eye to see it all - the most notorious clubs in town being used for money laundering, the flagrant prostitution and rampant drug-trafficking unfolding inside… All the junk that sways this city of whores. I wanted SLASHER to be an action-pill, and I intended the main guy as a thorn in their side - a stab to the ribs of national organized crime, a punch to the throat of Coclé that roam the town. The first chapter introduces the reader to the typical night of fun in this city of whores - the fictional town of Vadis, Romania, which appears to have inherited a lot from the big boys’ city of Bucharest.
